About me

The Faunt Piano Studio is a student centered musical learning environment! Michelle Everett Faunt, owner and educator, has been designing individual piano lesson programs for over 28 years. Each student is challenged to improve their skills in relation to their personal goals, interests and ability. Students are encouraged to explore a variety of genres of music. Formal classical piano training is available along with a variety of other choices such as popular, contemporary and jazz piano. Given sufficient time and effective practice, all students can meet or exceed their musical goals. Michelle is committed to helping students develop skills that will enable them to enjoy playing the piano for a lifetime!

Michelle has both a Bachelor of Science in Archaeology degree (1992) and a Bachelor of Education degree (1994), both from the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Michelle studied piano through the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM)Toronto program and has completed the Elementary Piano Pedagogy Certificate with the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM). In addition, she is a certified teacher with the Royal Conservatory of Music, holding both an RCM Beginner Certification Certificate and an RCM Intermediate Certification Certificate. Michelle has a special interest in teaching piano to children with various developmental and learning challenges. She has successfully prepared students for exams, festivals, recitals and post secondary education programs. Her piano teachers have included Joan Rainforth and Darlene Dusevic in Calgary.

In January 2012 and 2016 Michelle was awarded a Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations Certificate of Recognition for Professional Achievement. This certificate recognizes Michelle's commitment to continued professional growth. Currently, she is working towards obtaining an associate diploma (ALCM Thesis) with the London College of Music.
