About me

I am a private teacher and freelance musician who has been working across Canada for over 5 years. I have a diverse musical background, having been involved in solo, chamber, orchestral and collaborative work. In addition to performing, I have loved the opportunity to teach a wide variety of skill levels and ages, and am constantly pushing myself to improve and grow along with my students. I believe music is meant to be enjoyed and nothing is more satisfying than improvement!

I believe that private teaching is largely about building trusting and supportive relationships. Each student has their own strengths, goals and preferences, and I try to find repertoire that will help my students progress while keeping them motivated and excited. I have worked with a variety of skill levels and have taught piano up to RCM (The Royal Conservatory of Music) Level 10. Though not required, I encourage my students to participate in recitals and exams. These performance deadlines can be strong motivators and I am very familiar with the RCM syllabus. Most importantly, I think music is meant to be enjoyed! So I will do my best to make lessons a positive and fun experience!

In addition to teaching privately, I have taught piano for a number of studios: Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, West Point Grey School of Music, Staccato Music Studios, Chinook School of Music, and Imagine Music Inc.
