Raydene Koch

Edmonton AB | T6G 0L6

About me

Raydene Koch works as a pianist with the Edmonton School of Ballet and a regular accompanist for exams and festivals for strings and singers. She began studies at the age of 6.  She was eventually accepted for study with Stephane Lemelin at the University of Alberta, and achieved a B. Mus. in performance after 5 full years with him. Following her degree, Raydene spent 2 years in London, England studying informally with Nigel Clayton and Tessa Uys, as well as singing with numerous groups. Raydene has many years experience teaching Early Childhood Music and has worked with Russian-American Pedagogue Dr. Faina Bryanskaya (formerly from the St. Petersburg Conservatory and the Longy School of Music in Boston) specializing in teaching young children how to approach music at the piano. She currently manages a vibrant studio from her McKernan home in Edmonton and warmly welcomes students of all ages, all levels for enjoyment or professional training. Raydene is passionate as well as experienced working with young children at the piano, and is well known for providing a well rounded music education to children of all ages (up to 85). She employs a patient, nurturing approach with children, coupled with high standards of performance, and reinforcement of musical concepts through games and other activities. Her students have regularly achieved medals and scholarships for their high grades in examinations and festival performances.  Raydene continues to sing, pursue regular studies in advanced piano repertoire from Michael Massey and others, and loves to hang out in the River Valley with her dog, Shiloh.
