About me

Sarah Muehlbauer is a masters student (MM degree) in Piano Performance at UNCG with an accompanying assistantship and would also love to continue teaching piano lessons! She graduated with a BM in Piano Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University, and has also studied in Vienna (Konservatorium Wien).

Sarah has experience teaching piano lessons to students age 8-18 of varying levels in the Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) Piano Preparatory Program, as well as teaching students privately in her own studio. She has also taught and coached young students in the IWU Cello Camp and Illinois Chamber Music Festival. During her undergraduate years, she gained experience accompanying IWU college students and young students in the IWU String Preparatory Program.

Sarah has attended Eastern Music Festival, CCM Art of the Piano, and International Chamber Music Academy (Kyustendil, Bulgaria). She has performed in numerous masterclasses, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., finalist in EMF solo competition, and with orchestra as the winner of the IWU Henry Charles Memorial Concerto/Aria Competition.

Please contact her for more information regarding piano lessons!

Specialties

I have taught beginner students who have never had a piano lesson before, all the way up to students who are age 18 and have been playing for 10+ years.

Lesson details

Lessons vary depending on the student's goals, abilities, interest, and level as far as how much time we spend on technique, theory, method/lesson books, or separate pieces. I take those all into account when deciding how to structure lessons, and also asking the student/parent what they would prefer.

I have mostly taught students from the Music Tree, Faber/Piano Adventures, and Alfred methods, but am familiar with/willing to teach from various others as well.
