About me

"The greatest good you can do for others is not to share your own riches but to reveal to them their own" - Benjamin Disraeli

The piano, for me, is a palette of tones and every piece of music is a portrait of the soul.

The greatest favor musicians can do for themselves is to be absolutely lucid about their musical identity. This clarity will reflect in every sparkling trill of the music they make.

My goal is to give you all the tools necessary to find your artistic identity and pursue your musical ambitions.

I've studied piano performance at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and I am currently enrolled in Julliard. Through my musical education, I've come to understand certain formulas that eliminate the need for time consuming and tedious memorization of theory. These tools make complex theory and harmony accessible to even small children.

Once you have these concepts in your arsenal, you will be free to unleash your creative potential. I will then focus on helping you tap into your creative side so that you can make the most inspired music. You will learn how to set yourself apart by channeling your music from your individuality.

If your goal is to be a classical musician, I'll also teach you the most effective methods for sight-reading and memorization. These techniques will help you avoid frustration; the biggest nemesis of any musician.

Whatever your goals might be- I will work with you to tailor a plan to achieve them, (while of course having fun in the process). Having a good time and being dedicated can definitely go hand in hand.

I teach all ages. I've taught students ranging from a two and a half year old novice to a seventy-eight year old retired jazz enthusiast. My belief is that if you're feeling good about it, its never too early nor too late.

They say every picture is worth a thousand words, but a piece of music is worth a million. There is nothing more rewarding than facilitating its creation.

Specialties

I'm versatile in my teaching- the tools of theory and harmony can be tailored and used successfully in any musical genre. I specialize in classical music and in jazz composition and improvisation.

Lesson details

The lessons are individually structured to meet your specific requirements. If your main focus is composition, I will first acquaint you with all the tools of theory and harmony and then push you to find yourself as an artist so that your individuality reflects in your work. If you're more oriented towards expanding your classical repertoire, I'll work on strategies to simplify the process of sight-reading and memorization.
