Susan Davis

Victoria BC | V9C 2B2

About me

Susan's teachers have included Pat Miller in Port Alberni where she began her training, and later Robin & Winifred Wood at the Victoria Conservatory of Music where she studied for 2 years on scholarship. She received her Associate of the Victoria Conservatory of Music for both Performer and Teacher which she passed "With Distinction" and her Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto).

Susan has many years of collaborative piano playing experience, working mostly with choirs and singers but also several instrumentalists over the years. Studying with Rena Sharon solidified an already sensitive and supportive collaborative style.

In her teaching, Susan works from the premise that every student can achieve success with a balance of mastering practical skills and loving the music they are creating while learning in a supportive, encouraging environment. Recitals offer the opportunity to play for others in a relaxed or more formal setting and share the gift of music that is being developed.

Susan has played piano for over 40 years and has taught for close to 30. She began accompanying choirs when she was in Junior High school and has enjoyed numerous collaborative playing experiences in Victoria. She performed three solo recitals when working towards her ARCT and AVCM.

Currently, Susan is a member of the Victoria branch of Registered Music Teachers, has approximately 20 students in her private teaching studio, and works with the Sooke Philharmonic Chorus as their rehearsal accompanist.

Susan teaches all ages and would enjoy all levels although she has more experience with the beginner to early advanced (grade 9) levels than with grade 10 and above.
