About me
I was raised in Vancouver and have been teaching in Port Coquitlam, near Coquitlam Centre, for over 20 years.
I studied piano under Mary (Nan) Gorringe and theory under Keiko Parker.
I am a member and past executive-member of the British Columbia Music Teachers Association (BCRMTA). I am currently the Librarian for the BCRMTA and am actively coordinating our annual North Fraser Music Festival.
Teaching piano is a life long passion for me and I strive to pass this love of music to all of my students.
Specialties
I teach all levels, from beginners to advanced. My students include very young children and senior adults and, or course, all ages in between. I endeavour to make all of my students comfortable while encouraging them to work up to the best of their abilities.
Lesson details
Lessons take place at my home studio. Depending on the needs, abilities and ambitions of each student, I choose from a variety of techniques and method books. When the time comes, and the student chooses to, I help prepare them for Royal Conservatory exams. However, taking these exams is not a requirement of my studio.
I hold two recitals every year, one at Christmas and one in June. To help students prepare for recitals, festivals, and exams, I hold performance classes every two months at which point the students play prepared pieces for each other.
