Piano Lessons at Home Increase Learning & Parental Involvement

Piano Lessons at Home Increase Learning & Parental Involvement Though it is a contentious issue, there are good reasons to have in-home piano lessons. There are time and money savings, saving wear on the car and gas, parents can be more involved, students will be better prepared and will remember more of what they learn.

As a piano student myself, I have taken both styles of lessons, at home and in a studio. With at home lessons, I was able to practice and be more motivated without losing focus in a car ride or rushing from one place to the next. The conditions were perfect during lessons, even if I were feeling lazy, I felt I had to practice before lessons. After lessons, feeling energized, I felt like playing more. Of course I liked lesson in studio, but it was far and I didn’t like getting there in the dark, especially in the winter.

It depends on the individual, but my opinion is it’s better for small children to take lesson at home. Sometimes teachers have the difficulty to motivate students, especially small children. At home, there are parents there that can help which is good for everyone: students, parents and teachers.

hichever way works best, the environment and teachers are very important for students to enjoy playing and to develop. Once they lose that feeling, it is hard to recover.
