About me

I have been an active classical pianist, performing extensively at every major venue throughout the Detroit metro area as a soloist and chamber musician since the 1970's. I've also performed in the Caribbean region in Jamaica and St. Kitts. My goal in teaching with every student is to share my love of music in general and piano-playing, specifically, no matter what their age or background. It is my aim to enable each student to fully express themselves and the music they're playing. In order to harness their potential, I aim to develop their highest degree of creative energy in bringing music to life. My interests include table tennis, golf, chess, and snooker. I also have two U.S. Patents to my credit.

I was very fortunate to have studied with Professor Boris Maximovich at Wayne State University for eight years. I did my Bachelor's and Master's work with him. He was a former student of the legendary pianist, Simon Barere, at the Kiev Conservatory where he became a leading exponent of Arm-Weight Technique.

This unique approach to playing the piano is the only one I have found that virtually eliminates physical tension. At the same time, it provides the greatest economy and the most singing, legato tone quality.

Lesson details

I typically structure lessons based on the personal requirements of each student. As such, sometimes lessons will focus more on theory or history, sometimes more on purely technical or interpretive matters in the repertoire being studied.

Education and Accreditation

I studied at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan where I received my Bachelor of Music with Honors and did further Master's work with my instructor, Boris Maximovich.
