Parker at the Piano
The Piano Teachers Federation promoted and attended the opening production of Sinfonia in North Vancouver with amazing success. Pacey's Pianos sponsored 40 tickets for Piano Teacher Federation members, many more teachers attended, and many brought students with them. The PTF promoted the event on its website, facebook, and by direct calling and helping to fill the house of 700 seats as part of the largest showing of any Sinfonia event.
Conductor, Clyde Mitchell brought together the show's special format where the first half had 16 young and up-and-coming artists playing piano with orchestral accompaniment. The second half featured an inspiring performance by none other than Vancouver legend, Ian Parker. The audience was rewarded by a slightly unusual encore, a piano and orchestra accompanied rendition of "Happy Birthday to You", played by Ian Parker and conducted by Clyde Mitchell, dedicated to the octogenarian birthdays of their fathers.
It was a fantastic experience for all in attendance and the Piano Teachers Federation looks forward to working with Sinfonia again while continuing to bring music and piano to our members.
