About me

Korean-Canadian Pianist, Monica Han has been consistently recognized as a soloist in performances, festivals and competitions across the globe. She has received many honours and awards including the Silver Medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music, the Grand-Prix at the Gala Concert in Richmond, the BC Provincials, Canadian National Music Competition, the International Union City Philharmonic Competition, and Bradshaw and Buono International Competition.
Monica made her debut with the Pilgrim Orchestra in 2007, playing the Chopin Concerto No.1, and the following year, she performed the Grieg Concerto with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
Monica has participated in many notable music festivals where she received mentorship from renowned pianists such as John Perry, Richard Goode, Vladimir Feltsman, Ruth Slenczynska, and Jon Kimura Parker.
In the fall of 2013, Monica was accepted into the Master’s programme with a full scholarship at UBC, and there, she is studying under Dr. Sara Davis Buechner. Monica holds a Bacherlor's Degree from Mannes College in New York City where she graduated with Honours.
Aside from performing, Monica also enjoys teaching and volunteering. Currently, she is a teaching assistant of undergraduate musicianship courses at UBC, as well as a UBC ambassador and plays in senior homes and local hospitals.
