About me

A little girl tried so hard to play the theme song of her favorite cartoon- “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” on a toy piano for hours, she looked for the correct keys for the tone to deliver the song in her head and enjoy the consonant sound and joyful melody that delighted her so much. Her parents saw the light in girl’s eyes and heard her singing for the whole day, they believed that she must love music from the heart, so they decided to find a real piano and a teacher for their daughter.

I started my piano lessons at the age of four, and music has been my best friend since then. I decided to devote myself to music learning and teaching when I was fifteen, and eventually, I majored in piano performance in National Taiwan Normal University, which has the best music program in Taiwan. Later, I earned both my M.A. and the M.Ed. in Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City.

I became a public school music teacher after graduated from university for more than 10 years and then I decided to quit the job and found my own career. I became the owner of a private music studio, I developed curriculum, taught piano, arranged lectures and recitals for students and people in the community, I also wrote blog articles and published a book that is about music education.

As a piano teacher, I always want to help students think more broadly about both the environment and the world around them in addition to becoming more sensitive and aware of their own feelings through music. I really enjoy the piano lessons with students while we will also had many meaningful discussions and interesting brainstorming about music as well as playing beautiful notes in the class.

I am now live in Coquitlam and hope to meet more students with a variety of musical goals.
