About me

Hello! My name is Miguel, I am a pianist from Mexico and I recently graduated from the UBC school of music with a master degree in piano performance. During my studies at UBC I had the opportunity to receive lessons from Rena Sharon and also worked as a teaching assistant for the secondary piano and piano laboratory classes at the university. During this time I was able to help my piano students get ready for their piano exams. Before coming to Canada, I used to teach privately in Mexico and had received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Houston.

Music teaching philosophy: Music gives joy to the world and in making music then the music apprentice should as well take joy in all the aspects and steps of music learning, let it be practice, listening to music, and performing.

What inspires me? Everything! Inspiration can come from every corner of life and human thought. It can be as simple as: a conversation with a friend, with a stranger, the smell of rain, the view of the mountains and Nature, the sound of the waves at the beach, the colour of the trees, a good book or a good movie, discovering something new.
