About me

Dr. MiJung C. Trepanier is an active performer and teacher. She has performed as a soloist with Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra and has given many recitals in Korea, Bolivia, Puerto Rico, and throughout the United States. Her performances have been described as “luminous in tone and attentive to musical detail. Her technique and musicianship were of the highest order. Brilliant chamber performance that was full of color and texture.”
She earned a Doctoral Music of Arts in piano performance at Michigan State University. She has studied with Yoheved Kaplinsky, Russell Sherman, John Perry, Rebecca Pennys, and Peter Tackacs. Her principal teachers were Soo Jung Shin, Kui Hyun Kim, and Young Hi Moon.
She is dedicated to teaching at all levels and ages in her private studio. She is a member of MMTA and is a nationally certified teacher of music (NCTM). She serves as an adjudicator for area competitions and events. She has taught as an artist-in-residence in the Music Department at Saginaw Valley State University (2005-2008). Prior to this, Dr. Trepanier served as collaborative artist and coordinator of music accompaniment at Southern Utah University (2003-2005).
