Pianist Mary Fleming, was raised in the Seattle area and holds degrees from SUNY at Stony Brook and the Oberlin Conservatory where she studied piano with Gilbert Kalish and Joseph Schwartz. Her interest in 20th Century music has been particularly fruitful; she co-founded the Stony Brook Contemporary Music Players, Alternate Currents Performance Ensemble and directed an American Music Extravaganza, showcasing the works of Charles Ives and John Cage. She has been a volunteer performer for the organization Bread and Roses for over 20 years. She will be presented by Concerts Grand in San Rafael, CA, in April of 2012. She currently lives in Marin County where she continues her career as a teacher and performer and has just produced a solo CD, Arabesque available at Forrest-Studios.com.
