Marie-Therese Gummer

About me

Marie-Therese Gummer is an award-winning pianist and holds a Master of Music degree with Pedagogy Emphasis from the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford where she was a faculty member in the Community Division.

She completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Graduate Diploma in Baroque Studies (harpsichord) from the University of Toronto. She completed her Associate diploma (ARCT) in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music at the age of 14 and spent a number of years as a scholarship student in the RCM’s Young Artist’s Performance Academy. In addition, Marie-Therese spent several summers at the Aspen Music Festival and School, Indiana University and studying in Europe.

Marie-Therese has been teaching for over 12 years and has done research on children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is currently teaching at Whitby School of Music and is active as an adjudicator and workshop clinician.

Marie-Therese is the co-author of Pianokids®.

Lesson details

Marie-Therese Gummer teaches at Whitby School of Music Monday - Friday at from 2:00 - 9:00pm. She teaches students aged 3 - adult.

Beginner - Grade 3 Piano: 30 minute lesson
Grade 3 - 5 Piano: 45 minute lesson
Grade 5 - ARCT: 1 hour lessons

All lessons include theory, sight-reading and ear-training.

Ms. Gummer also teaches and is the co-author of the Pianokids® Method: The PREMIER piano course for young students ages 4 - 8. Begin with the basics of reading notes, rhythm and proper fingering with fun pieces directly related to children of this age.
