About me

I believe in a holistic approach to music, an approach that encourages equally the development of body, mind, and spirit, and I believe that music is an excellent tool to nurture these three aspects of our human nature. I like to motivate, show new worlds, open doors, facilitate the communication between all aspects of the individual. My goal is to find a balance of the three aspects so the students under my care can express themselves now, and in the future. I want to give them the gift of communication with themselves and with others through music.

I started my piano studies when I was 10 years old at the Music Conservatory of San Martin, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During my 10 years of studies there I focused in Music Education and Piano Instruction. When I finished my studies I worked in conservatories and schools for a few years until I decided to continue my studies in Europe, focusing in composition. I took classes in Paris of electroacustic music, orchestration, composition, and then I continued with more formal composition studies in Holland, Then Hague, when I entered the Royal Conservatory, graduating after four years with a Bachelors in Composition. Then I came to the United States where I've been writing music for theater, dance, and now also, simple songs.

Specialties

I mainly teach piano, beginners and intermediate students, since I never really focused in advance performance. I try to attain a balance in the repertoire and work on classical and popular music, which includes the basics of jazz and blues. But I also like to encourage my students to compose and improvise, to explore their own language with music. I also teach groups where I show them the basics of guitar, drums, and other small instruments so the students can have the experience of playing in ensembles.

Lesson details

Learning piano with me is fun and inspirational. I offer much more than just mechanical repetition. I give students a deeper understanding of music encouraging creativity and exploration through free improvisation and the composition of simple songs and ideas to strengthen the knowledge of music theory. And since each student is different, I tailor the lessons to the student’s needs.

I normally like to start the lessons with technique, finger exercises, then we go to sight reading, work on pieces, and at the end work on composing a song or a structured improvisation, but as I said, every student is different so the format varies too according to the student's interests.
