Laura Tyrrell, B.Mus. BCRMTA
Vancouver BC | V5T 4T1
About me
Laura began lesson lessons at the age of 8 in her hometown of 100 Mile House, BC. Under the direction of her first teacher, Esther Newbery, Laura became a very active musician in her community, taking part in local and provincial music festivals, high school musicals, and performing at every opportunity throughout her childhood. In 2003, she moved to Vancouver where she began a Bachelor of Arts degree in History at UBC, but soon realized that her true passion was in teaching music. With this realization, she decided to leave her Arts degree (with only one year left until graduation!) and begin a new degree at UBC School of Music. Laura is delighted to be following her dream of sharing music and hopes others will be inspired to do the same.
She has over 7 years of teaching experience, and has been on staff at several well-known music schools in Vancouver. Her teachers have included Esther Newbery, John Dupuis, and Miranda Wong.
