About me
I received a B.Mus from the University of Manitoba, and moved to B.C. in 1975. For over thirty years, I have been on the piano faculty at the Langley Community Music School, where I am Resident Accompanist and a Life Member. I have been active in promoting and performing Canadian Music, and, together with Ian Hampton, started the LCMS Contemporary Showcase festival in 2001. As an accompanist, I've played for the Banff Centre, Ballet B.C., the Vancouver Academy of Music, the Handel Society Choir, and the Vancouver Cello Club, and am a specialist in the advanced string repertoire. I am a member of the B.C.R.M.T.A. Vancouver Branch, the Musicians' Union, and am a voting member of the Canadian Music Centre. Currently, I am President of the East Vancouver Community Music School Society, and excited about starting our new school at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 2444 E. 41st Ave., in the Fall of 2011.
I try to develop in my students good skills and musicianship, and a love and enjoyment of music. Matching the student with engaging music at their level is the key to success. I like to focus on developing beautiful touch and phrasing, and bringing the music to life.
