Karine Koroukian

Forest Hills NY | 11375

About me

I have over 20 years of teaching experience with beginners, intermediates and early advanced students. Whether the purpose of studying piano is pure pleasure or preparation for recitals, performing arts schools auditions, juries and national tests (ABRSM or NYSSMA,) I adapt my teaching method and curriculum according to the specific needs of each individual student.

My students participating in national tests, auditions and adjudicated recitals, have been awarded outstanding scores and passed with high merit and honor, including a Leschetitzky award based on talent recognition. I offer all of my students the opportunity to perform bi-annually at Steinway Hall, and some participate at the gifted students recital at the Greenwhich House of Music, organized by the Leshetitzky association.

I develop solid piano technique, creativity, musicianship and critical listening abilities at all levels. I believe in cultivating the natural abilities of my students in a nurturing environment and develop a respectful teacher/student relationship.

In addition to teaching, I have performed as a soloist and chamber musician in the US, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. Some of the performance venues include: Steinway Hall, Strathmore Hall, Performing Arts Center in Rockville, MD, Weigell Hall at the OSU campus, Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, St Marks Church in London, UK and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

*Solo recording by: Haydn, Brahms, Chopin and Debussy

*Member of the Leschetitzky Association.

5 years of training in Alexander Technique, which prevents the formation of bad habits and reduces physical tension through postural awareness.

1 year of teacher training in Dalcroze method from the Dalcroze School of Music, in New York.
