About me

Helen Chien has been teaching piano since the Spring of 2006. Born in TaoYuan, Taiwan, Helen has lived her life in both Taiwan and Vancouver BC and is fluent in both English and Mandarin. Helen began her piano studies at the age of 8 and played in many concerts and festivals throughout her youth. Helen has studied music with many different teachers including Sharon Welch, Brian Taylor, John Dupuis, James Olsen, Linda Sheppard and Catherine Bundt. She has graduated with two ARCT Pedagogy (Teacher's) Dipolmas, from the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) and from the British Columbia Conservatory of Music (BCCM). Helen brings a youthful, energetic and multicultural dynamic to the teaching environment.

Helen is accustomed to working with people of all ages. She relates well to children, seniors and everyone in between. Helen's piano teaching methods are versatile. From preparation for RCM exams, popular music arranging to jazz improvising, she customs lesson plans to each individual student's agenda of piano study. Her music studio is located in the heart of Surrey. Helen also provides piano lessons in the convenience of your own home!
