About me

Hello! Thank you for taking time to look at my credentials. I hope to meet you soon!

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master's Degree in Education from Georgetown College. At Eastern Kentucky University I received a piano scholarship and was a piano major throughout my time there. I also studied voice and theater.

I taught for 11 years in Central Kentucky schools as an elementary music teacher, as well as teaching choir, drama, and dance. I have also been hired to step into arts education classes at Centre College to give students a professional example of arts education in public schools.

I have been teaching private lessons since around 1998.

In my spare time - and I do not have much because I am married and have two young songs - I perform with local theater and musical theater groups. I also sing and play keys on the worship team with Southland Christian Church's Danville Campus.

I love teaching students of all ages and of all learning styles. I understand that not everyone learns the same way and I am inspired by each student and their unique abilities and personalities.

My mission as a music teacher is to give students a lifelong love of music and the performing arts.

Lesson details

Lessons are given once a week in 30-minute segments.

Music theory and performance are taught as well as ear training and sight reading, which improves the realm of musical understanding.

Voice training is also available for students willing to commit to both.

Students are expected to practice five times a week at home on a well-maintained piano or electric piano.

Communication with me is very important and I have several forms of communication including email, text, and a Facebook page.
