About me

I have been teaching for over 30 years. I tailor my lessons to fit each students' individual needs. I have many music games and programs so that the students' learning is enhanced in a fun and exciting way. I have a Masters Degree in Piano Pedagogy and Performance. (Piano Pedagogy is the study of teaching Piano). I have lived in the Minneapolis area since 1987. Before that I received my Masters degree in Moorhead Minnesota and am an alumni of MSU. I grew up in Valley City North Dakota and have my Bachelors degree in music from VCSU.I believe that music should be fun and that anyone should be allowed to learn music!

Specialties

I teach many,students all with various interests. I teach ages 3 and up. I have several adult beginners. I teach people who have disabilities of various kinds. I also teach advanced students and have prepared many, students over the years for college music programs. Currently, I am working with Alzheimer patients.I will never turn a student with a disability away. I will always try to help people who are interested in learning music.Many of my students have gone on to become music majors and even a few Doctorate students.Several have also become performers.I am a member of South Suburban Piano Teachers Association, Apple Valley Music Teachers Association, National Federation of Music Clubs, Minnesota Music Teachers Association, National Music Teachers Association and I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music.

Lesson details

My basic lessons include, Theory & Technic as well as a structured lesson and performance book that will present new concepts in a timely manner. In addition to that- I add what the student is interested in and what I also think would help their situation. I also have several games and computer programs that I use depending on what the student needs to work on.Students are given the opportunity to work on many different performance projects through my music organizations. I also have two piano recitals per year at the Lakeville Arts Center.Students are encouraged to choose what programs they are interested in. I also have a Digital Piano and use the Finale Music writing program.
