About me

Born in Vancouver, Canada. Studied in Canada, the USA, France and England with renowned teachers Robin Wood, Gyorgy Sebok, Artur Balsm, John Perry and Vlado Perlemuter. Has performed as recitalist, soloist and chamber musician in Canada, the USA, Switzerland and England. Recipient of many awards and scholarships including First Prize in Northwest Young Artist Competition, multiple grants from Vancouver Foundation, BC Cultural Foundation, Victoria Community Arts Council, Canada Council of the Arts and scholarships to the Banff Centre (summer/winter sessions), Aspen Summer Music Festival, Kneisel Hall in Blue Hill, Rice University (full tuition/stipend, travel award). Currently manages an independent studio and shares her expertise as lecturer in recital, as adjudicator and clinician and in master classes teaching both students and teachers.

Has taught piano since 1983. Students range in age from very young to adult. Extensive experience in both teaching and performing solo, collaborative and chamber music repertoire. Faculty at Houston Community College (Texas) - instructor of piano, class piano and music fundamentals. Instructor at Rice University - piano and class piano. Music Director of "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" and "The Little Shop of Horrors".

Appearances on many music and festival series. Lecture-recitals include a series on French Music, Debussy, and Debussy's Preludes, Books I and II.

Specialties

Special interest and expertise in the French School as well as an interest in the physiological and psychological involvement in performance, the relationship between visual art and music, and performing and coachiing both solo and chamber music of all periods.

Teaches through to and including advanced levels.

Lesson details

Lessons are catered to the individual needs of the student. Emphasis on integrating musical understanding and technical fluency.
