Honour Recital - Student Performers' Guild 2010

A Piano Teachers Federation director had the great pleasure of taking in the Student Performers Guild Festival Honour Recital for 2010 at the Shadbolt Center in Burnaby on December 5th. The PTF is a proud supporter of the BC Registered Music Teachers in all of their endeavours and we were incredibly pleased with the performances. The Honour Recital highlights the very best performers of the Festival, all of whom have earned awards, scholarships and accolades. For 2010 there were 20 participants performed works from the likes of Mendelssohn, Bach, Gold, Kabalevsky, Liszt, Chopin, Sousa and others. Particularly of note was a Quartet of "The Stars and Stripes Forever", Prelude and Fugue in A Minor, and Etudes Opus 10.

We wish to congratulate all of the participants for their outstanding performances and look forward to seeing their progression in the coming months and years. It was clear that all of the students made a colossal effort to get to this level, studied and practiced diligently to earn their spots at the festival, and worked very hard to achieve this level of play. It is clear that there is a great deal of talent in Vancouver and the students entering into higher levels of education and eventually teaching will continue to not only grow in numbers, but improve in calibre.

The Piano Teachers Federation wants to send a special thank you to Toni Meyer for organizing and orchestrating the Festival on behalf of the BCRMTA.
