About me

What inspires me most, can be answered by questions, like:
What can bring more satisfaction to a teacher than the simple words 'You are the best!' from students and parents? Or hugs from students at the end of each lesson?
And what can bring more self esteem to students than receiving the highest possible praises from judges at National Guild Auditions?
I have a Bachelors and Masters degrees as a Piano Teacher, Performer, and an Accompanist from the prestigious Gnessin's Academy of Music (Moscow, Russia) with First Class Honors. I was very lucky to have excellent teachers during my school years. My teachers were students or peers of world famous musicians, such as Blumenfeld, Igumnov and Neygaus.

Before coming to the USA, I worked as a piano teacher in a Music College and performed in different cities in the former USSR. In Russia in order for students to apply to Music college, they need to have musical education for 7-8 years at Music school. Many of my students were accepted to conservatories (the most selective musical educational schools) around the country.

In 1980, me, my husband and our one year old son immigrated from Moscow to the USA. We lived in Rego Park, New York, where I taught piano to both children and adults. In 1982 I became the Musical Director of Shostakovitch Music School in Queens. This school had teachers in the theory of music, violin, choir, guitar; the school held auditions twice a year for students seeking acceptance.

In 1992, our family (including a sweet addition of our daughter) moved to Springfield, New Jersey, where I live now. After my husband's passing away a few years ago, I now live with my daughter and dedicate most of my time and love to my students. Still continue performing in my area. I teach out of my home in Springfield, NJ. My students, ranging from 5 years old to adults, come from the following towns: Short Hills,Springfield, Summit, Millburn, Westfield, Sparta, Mountainside, Cranford, West Orange, Roselle Park, Chatham, Maplewood, Florham Park and Greenbrook.
All students perform at the annual recital, which is a big event for me, students, and their parents. Usually more then 100 people are present in the large auditorium for the concert.

Anna combines Russian and American repertoire and methods in her teaching. Her kids enjoy their lessons from the start, playing songs they already know and love. Gradually, classical music is introduced, which in the beginning could be just easy arrangements. At the same time, more talented students play complicated classical pieces of Bach, Chopin, Beethoven and other world famous composers.

Before teaching a new student, Anna first meets the potential student and his/her parents
to 'check-up' different skills and abilities of the student. Based on her jugment, she gives recommendations about the student's readiness to start learning piano and about the length of the lessons.

Anna introduces the parents or adult student with policies of her Studio and always tries to accomodate her schedule to the students needs. Anna also tries to provide all students with books, in order for parents to avoid extra time and effort.

At Anna's studio there is a piano as well as a grand piano. If regular lessons are usually at comfort of piano, before Recitals and National Guild Auditions, all students's lessons are at Grand piano.
