About me

I teach piano and flute lessons in Decatur, as well as the surrounding areas of Tucker, Clarkston and Atlanta, (at Opus Winds Music in downtown Decatur, at my home studio in the North Decatur area and at students' homes). All ages and skill levels are welcome at my studios.

I have a Bachelor of Music degree from West Georgia State University and a Master of Music Education degree from Columbus State University. I am also certified by the Music Teachers National Association. I perform frequently as a piano/vocal soloist and as a flutist at weddings, receptions, parties and other events. I have played keyboards, flute and sax with several jazz, rock and blues bands. I have worked with such artists as “Big Bossman,” Little Jimmy Reed, and Big Bill Morganfield, (son of blues legend Muddy Waters), with whom I appeared on the television program “Good Day Atlanta”.

Over the years, several of my students have won scholarships and earned trophies in talent shows and participated in All-State Band. A student of mine won a composition contest and recently had his piece performed by the Carroll Symphony. Another student was named an outstanding performer at the Gwinnett County Music Teachers Association local auditions.

As a member of Georgia Music Teachers Association and the National Guild of Piano Teachers my students will have several opportunities to perform, if they wish. Please contact me at 770-843-2580 or at www.amywilsonmusic.com for rates and lesson times. I look forward to hearing from you!

Lesson details

My students take weekly private lessons along with monthly group lessons. Younger students take 30 minute private lessons, while older pupils have 45 minute or hour long lessons. Most students also have monthly group lessons which last for one hour and take the place of their regularly scheduled private lesson for that week.
