About me
I have been teaching for 14 years. I started as a student teacher in my teens. I have always loved to teach. When I went to university I specifically wanted to become the best teacher I could be. I think music brings joy, and a vehicle for expression into peoples lives. I love sharing that experience with my students.
Experience
I did my Bachelor of Music in two different universites. I started at Malaspina (now VIU), and after two years I transferred to Brandon University in Manitoba. I am now a BC registered teacher. I try to provide my students with all the possibilities available to them. This includes exams (practical and theory), The North Island Festival, student recitals, masterclasses etc.
Specialties
I take students as young as 4 as long as there is a parent who is willing to put in some time at home. Basically anybody, at any age is welcome, as long as they're willing to learn!
Lesson details
For students in conservatory I always start lessons with scales and ear training, as well as other technical exercises. We then proceed to look at the pieces that are being worked on.
