About me

Alina Raskin started studying violin at the age seven at the School of Arts. When she was eight years old, along with the violin she started piano and continued with remarkable teachers in College and Conservatory.

Alina continued her musical education in the Romanos Melikyan Musical College where she received her Bachelor of Music. She studied with professor Ara Vartanyan student of Rouben Aharonyan prominent violinist now the first violin in Moscow Borodin Quartet. Later she received Master of Music in Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas (University) studied with Karen Harutunyan student of legendary Leonid Kogan.

While she was in the last year of study in the string department of Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas, she applied and was accepted by the vocal department of the same Conservatory for the voice as a second major. There she studied art of singing, acting and dancing.

Alina worked in music theatre as an artist of orchestra and received teaching position in School of Music after Spendiarov.

Alina immigrated to Israel and continued learning art of singing with a former soloist of the Kiev State Opera and Professor of the Kiev State Conservatory Ella Akritova. Alina spent several productive years performing as a concert singer in Israel.

Few years after Alina immigrated to Canada and continued learning art of singing with professor of Riga State Conservatory Lyudmila Brown. Both these teachers were the followers of Umberto Masetti technique, an Italian singer and pedagogue, who lived in Russia before 1917 and spread his methods thought the Eastern Europe. In Canada Alina also took master classes from two soloists of Metropolitan Opera Heather Thompson and Perry Price.

In 2006 she started her solo concert tours in Europe (Germany). At these concerts along with the European peaces Alina acquaints the listeners with the richest heritage of vocal music of Armenian and Russian composers.

Currently she teaches violin, piano, vocal and theory of music at her Music School. Also she performs as a classical singer in Canada and Europe.

Experience
Alina Raskin holds her Master of Music degree from the State Conservatory in Yerevan, Armenia (former Soviet Union). She has over 17 years of teaching experience and actively performs at music events in Canada and Europe. Alina is a Registered Music Teacher in violin, piano, and voice and has been a BCRMTA member since 2001.

From the first lesson Alina focuses on music excellence, including instruction and training in correct body position and healthy muscle habits. She utilizes an individual approach and develops a curriculum specifically tailored for each student. This allows her students to learn to play music with an imaginative approach while following the urge, mood, and motivation induced by the composer.

Alina's classes are exciting and enjoyable which lead to the exceptional results her many students have achieved. Her students consistently receive high grades on the RCM Exams and win top awards in festivals and competitions.
